Mad Max: Fury Road* takes place in a post-apocalyptic Australia, where the tyrannical warlord Immortan Joe (played by Hugh Keays-Byrne) rules by controlling the water supply. Max Rockatansky, a former cop haunted by his past failures, is captured by Joe’s “War Boys,” a fanatical group of sick but fierce warriors.
At the same time, Joe’s trusted lieutenant, Furiosa, is sent on a mission driving a massive tanker truck, the “War Rig,” to retrieve fuel from allies in Gas Town. However, Furiosa veers off course, revealing her betrayal—she's helping Joe's five enslaved wives, including the pregnant Splendid Angharad (Rosie Huntington-Whiteley), escape.
Joe dispatches his War Boys to recapture the five wives. Max, bound to a car as a “blood bag,” is chained and connected by a transfusion line to Nux (Nicholas Hoult), one of the War Boys, to provide him with healthy blood during the chase.
As they pursue Furiosa and the wives, a battle erupts—Furiosa fights to protect the women, while Max struggles to break free from his restraints and survive.
Furiosa steers the War Rig into a massive sandstorm to shake off the attackers. Nux, seeking a heroic death, attempts to blow himself up to stop her, but Max intervenes and prevents the explosion. However, their car is wrecked by Furiosa in the process.
Max survives and hauls the unconscious Nux through the desert, eventually stumbling upon Furiosa and the wives, who are repairing the War Rig. Armed and desperate, Max holds the women at gunpoint, forcing them to help him escape. A tense fight ensues.
Nux regains consciousness and assists Max in subduing Furiosa and the wives, but Max shows no interest in returning to Joe. Instead, he tries to steal the War Rig for himself, but without knowing its ignition code, he’s forced to form an uneasy alliance with Furiosa and the others. Together, they set off in the War Rig, heading back toward Joe’s territory, preparing for an inevitable showdown.
