The Departed (2006), directed by Martin Scorsese, is a tense crime thriller that revolves around the infiltration of the Boston mob and the Massachusetts State Police. The story follows two men on opposite sides of the law: Billy Costigan (Leonardo DiCaprio), a young cop with a family history of crime, who goes undercover to infiltrate the mob, and Colin Sullivan (Matt Damon), a rising star in the police force who is secretly working for the mob boss Frank Costello (Jack Nicholson).
As both men work to uncover each other's identities, the tension builds. Costigan faces the constant threat of exposure while trying to gather intelligence on Costello's operations. Sullivan, meanwhile, is under increasing pressure to keep his true allegiance a secret from his colleagues, especially Captain Queenan (Martin Sheen) and Sergeant Dignam (Mark Wahlberg), who are suspicious of him.
